We are thrilled to share some exciting news with you all! Our team has been granted the new EU Horizon Europe MSCA-SE project, which is fantastic not just for us but also for Ukraine. Once again, we have the privilege of serving as the project coordinator, with Viktoriia Korniienko leading the whole project as a member of the University of Latvia, and Sergiy Kyrylenko coordinating the Sumy State University project tasks.
Introducing Project “Electro-Conductive Polymeric 3D Scaffolds as Novel Strategies for Biomedical Applications” – ESCULAPE. This groundbreaking project aims to develop innovative solutions, from manufacturing to implementation strategies, utilizing MXenes, a new class of two-dimensional (2D) materials composed of transition metal carbides/carbonitrides. By leveraging MXenes, we will enhance the properties and qualities of porous 3D electrospun nanoscaffolds. These modified scaffolds will find applications in tissue engineering for regenerative biomedicine, organ-on-chip technologies, and the development of wearable electronics on woven and non-woven fabrics.
Our team is proud to have assembled an exceptional group of academic and industrial partners from the EU and overseas. We are fortunate to have the leading MXenes producer, Materials Research Centre (Kyiv, Ukraine), on board. Additionally, we have partnered with esteemed institutions specializing in biomaterials, polymer science, nanotechnology, tissue engineering, microbiology, and medicine, including the University of Latvia (Latvia), Sumy State University (Ukraine), University of Eastern Finland (Finland), Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan (Poland), French National Institute of Health, Inserm (France), Vilnius University (Lithuania), Elektronikas Un Datorzinatnu Instituts (Latvia), BIOFABICS LDA (Portugal), RESPILON MEMBRANES S.R.O. (Czech Republic), and the University of Campinas (Brazil).
We are delighted to be working alongside our esteemed and sustainable collaborators and friends: Dr. Oleksiy Gogotsi, Dr. Igor Iatsunskyi, Prof. Dr. Almira Ramanaviciene, Dr. Albano C. Meli, Dr.sc.comp. Modris Greitāns, and Prof. Alexandre Oliveira. I’m also thrilled to welcome new partners who bring fresh expertise to our project. It’s through collaboration that we can drive scientific advancements that benefit society as a whole.
This project represents a significant step towards Ukraine’s development. Through new ideas, groundbreaking technologies, and research mobility, we will make our country stronger and work towards a better future.
I want to extend my sincere gratitude to the University of Latvia for their support and the opportunity to continue our research in this terrible times.
Thank you all for your unwavering support. Together, we can make a difference!
